Are your tools for your dog being used incorrectly?
When we use tools to aid in the training of our dogs, we sometimes un-intentionally use them the wrong way. Making sure you have the correct knowledge on how to use your tools will secure the safety of you and your dog.
In the top 2 pictures, you will see how a prong collar is being worn incorrectly. Notice how the prong collar is very loose and there is a big gap between the collar and the neck. In the bottom 2 pictures, you will see how a prong collar is worn the correct way. Notice how the prong collar is a snug fit right behind the head and is high up on the neck.
When you place a prong collar up high and snug, it allows even pressure to be distributed to the dog whenever you give him a correction. When it is worn loose, it only distributes pressure to one point of the neck. This can actually cause your dog harm, or your self. When the collar is worn loose and is left on a dog, it can get caught on anything and could potentially choke them. Never leave a prong collar on a dog unattended or in a crate. Safety for you and your dog ALWAYS comes first while training or working with your dog.
